A hung parliament, an obstructionist senate, possibly even a Labor/Greens socialist Government. Not surprisingly, many Liberals are left wondering about the wisdom of dumping Abbott for Turnbull.

Could they have done better if they had kept him? Would things have been even worse? We will never know the answer of course. In my view however, that is the wrong question to be asking anyway. The question we should be asking is, “why was Tony Abbott so badly on the nose in the first place.”

The Rudd/Gillard/Rudd Government was an unmitigated disaster for this country. During the greatest mining boom in history, they turned a $20 billion surplus into a $300 billion deficit. By the end, they had nothing to show for it. Worse still, much of the spending was ongoing. It was unable to be unwound because of a sympathetic Senate.

Simultaneously, they turned the world’s most successful immigration policy into a free for all. People smugglers, terrorists and country shoppers celebrated while dead bodies piled up on the shores of Christmas Island.

Meanwhile, the Federal Labor party was in disarray with Julia Gillard knifing Rudd who then staged a counter-coup shortly before the election.

Genghis Khan could have won in these circumstances.Tony Abbott not only won however, he hit the ground running with some spectacular successes.

Most impressively, he stopped the boats dead in their tracks. Even the media couldn’t figure out how he did this until months after it happened. He reined in the deficit and would have done more had it not been for a hostile Senate.

For sure he didn’t have John Howard’s political instincts (a knighthood for Prince Phillip, are you serious!) and he wasn’t the most polished performer. That didn’t affect the man in the street however. He should have been forgiven for that, but he wasn’t.

So why was he hated by so many? It doesn’t seem to make any sense. I have seen this happen before so it is hardly without precedent. I well remember when Margaret Thatcher became British Prime Minister, promising controversially to halt immigration. At that time, the UK was in dire straits.

The country’s finances were in such a bad way that the British Government couldn’t even borrow money on the bond market. Instead, it needed a loan from the IMF just to keep the lights on. This was the largest loan the IMF had ever had to make. Talk about a banana republic!

Inflation was running at up to 24%. Rubbish and coffins were piling up in many British cities due to strike action and most of the nation’s industrial production was hopelessly uncompetitive (think British Leyland).

When Thatcher came in, she administered harsh medicine. Interest rates were raised to 15%. Subsidised industries were cut loose and privatised. Taxes were cut across the board.

She applied the four principles of economic success; small government, low taxes, sound money and strong property rights.

The results were very tough. Millions were unemployed and I was one of them. Like all of my contemporaries, I hated Maggie with a passion and I blamed her for it. I didn’t realise at the time that it was not her fault.

Those jobs would have been lost anyway. It wasn’t six months of Thatcherism that caused the pain, it was the thirty years of radical socialism that preceded it.

The pain we endured is hard to describe. The manufacturing sector in the North of England was hit particularly hard.

Coming out of school into this mess and looking in vain for an apprenticeship is something I will never forget. The sense of hopelessness is etched indelibly into my memory.

By the time her Government was voted out seventeen years later however, Britain was booming. Its economy was the envy of the world. We were making world class motorcycles again for the first time since the fifties.

Wages were rising strongly and inflation was under control. Standards of living were probably the highest they had ever been and work was becoming plentiful. Any objective observer could see this.

Margaret Thatcher is viewed by many as Britain’s best post war Prime Minister.

The Blair Government which succeeded her flooded the country with migrants, ran the economy into the ground and destroyed swathes of British culture with political correctness. By 2009, the country was almost as bad as when Thatcher had taken over.

When Margaret Thatcher died a couple of years ago, you might then have expected her to be remembered fondly, or at least with a grudging respect. Instead, the song “Ding Dong the Witch is Dead” became a No1 best seller.

The same depressing story is repeated all over the Western democracies. First, the Left gains power and screws the economy. Then the Right gets back in and fixes things up. Once things are working again, the Right is thrown out and the Left screws it up all over again.

All the while, the Left gains popularity while the Right becomes less and less popular. Incredibly, people today are embarrassed to admit to being Right wing.

So why is it that the success of the capitalist Right is not recognised and appreciated? Why is it that Right wing political parties are having to adopt disastrous Left wing policies in order to remain electable?

The reason is twofold. Firstly, Right wing politicians have completely failed to explain their economic policies. They should be doing this in simple terms which ordinary people can understand.

I voted Labor all my life until I discovered the truth. Stupidly, it wasn’t the Liberals who explained economics to me. In fact, many Liberals are economically illiterate.

A former member of John Howard’s Government once explained to me that migrants were needed to do jobs that Australians wouldn’t do. He told me that they couldn’t find Australians to clean Parliament House.

What a load of rubbish. I had to explain to him that there were plenty of Aussies who would love that job. The problem wasn’t lack of workers. The problem was that the wages they were offering were too low; supply and demand 101. Bringing in workers from overseas was merely flooding the labour market to reduce wages to a level that the Government wanted to pay.

What they should have done was to have either paid the rate that was being asked or put up with a dirty building (they could of course have cleaned the place themselves and done at least one useful thing for the nation).

If conservative politicians don’t understand their own economic principles, how can they explain them to the rest of us?

Explaining economics clearly is vital, because socialism is like alcohol. At first, things feel wonderful and people love it. Unfortunately, the more you administer, the worse things get.

As Thatcher herself said, “Socialism is great until you run out of other people’s money.”

Capitalism, by contrast, is like abstinence. It starts with a hangover but then things slowly get better and better.

Politicians wanting to take away the punch bowl, need to explain things very clearly. If they don’t, then of course they won’t be popular. People feel the pain and blame the grown-ups. Who can then resist the siren call of the socialist with his offer of free booze all night long?

The second, related problem is our education system. In short, while Right wing politicians have been preoccupied with sorting out the economy, the Left have been completing a “long march” through our schools and universities.

Consequently, our children are graduating from school with a world view which is totally divorced from reality.

Hard core socialism is an ideology which is utterly destructive. It has killed more people than any other political movement except Islam. Our societies recently prevailed over a multi-decade “Cold War” against socialism.

Incredibly however, our children are today being taught that socialism is a great idea. This stranglehold that the Left has over our children’s education has poisoned whole sections of our societies and their institutions.

The Right need to take back our schools and universities. It needs to ensure that children understand its principles. It needs to explain its principles to pupils and show them how and why it make societies so successful.

Instead of arguing over how much funding schools receive, those of the Right should be arguing over the curriculum. Ordinary people are sick of having their children coming home from school with a completely skewed view of reality.

What is the easiest way to fix things up? If it was up to me, I would insist that before graduating, every child be compelled to read two books. One of these would be Right wing, one of them Left wing.

My pick for the first book would be the incredible, Economics in One Lesson by Henry Hazlitt. The second would be the “Bible of theLeft”, the interminable Das Capital by Karl Marx.

If that doesn’t cure kids of socialism, nothing will.

A transgender military is not funny and is not okay
By Peter Heck

It’s a surreal experience to behold the death throes of our culture. And yet watching those who have been elevated to the highest positions of trust in our civil society issue statements that are contrary not just to nature or common sense, but to rationality itself, you can’t help but realize that that is precisely what we are witnessing. To wit, here was a portion of the actual announcement made by United States secretary of defense Ash Carter in proclaiming that our national military will end the policy of treating male and female troops according to their biology:

Embedded within our Constitution is the very principle that all Americans are free and equal. And we as an Army are sworn to protect and defend that very principle. And we are sworn to even die for that principle. So if we in uniform are willing to die for that principle than we in uniform should be willing to live by that principle.

This is the kind of declaration that makes those attached to reality only by the cords of their feelings and emotions swoon. They retweet and repost this kind of intellectually useless word salad. Nowhere is it embedded in the Constitution that a biological male with a mental confusion (or dysphoria, as we are now calling it) that makes him long to be a girl is to be culturally embraced as such. Nowhere is it embedded in the Constitution that Americans are not “free and equal” if biological reality is putative and respected.

Further, how offensive is it that the secretary of defense is suggests that two centuries of brave American warriors who have died for the principles of the Constitution did not “live” according to those principles, given that they did not embrace this absurd cult of subjective self-identification?

But this is more than just another national embarrassment and humiliation brought on by a juvenile administration whose official mandates actually allege that a person can be “male, female, neither, or a combination of male and female.”

Roger Severino, former Harvard Law standout and attorney for the Department of Justice’s Civil Rights Division, asks some logical questions about the negative impact this new social experiment will have on our country’s military. For instance, will males who think they are female have to do 35 pushups (for men) or 13 pushups (for women) to pass basic training?

And beyond that, what will be the cost to the American taxpayer for the retraining of military doctors so that they are equipped to provide “transition-related care”? Carter stated emphatically that “[w]e will take care of them, and pay for necessary medical treatment.” But what is “necessary medical treatment”? Given that Carter went on to acknowledge that so-called gender transition (sex “reassignment” surgeries) is becoming socially and politically “normalized,” will taxpayers now be paying for breast implants and filing down Adam’s apples in men? In a sane culture, is this the best use of funds set aside for national defense?

As much as the self-ordained arbiters of tolerance may want to pretend they are pioneering the next great phase of America’s struggle over civil rights, they are instead making fools of themselves and all of us.

Patriotic Americans struggling with sexual confusion have always been allowed to serve, provided that they (like everyone else) abide by the military code of conduct required to produce the most effective and prepared fighting force possible.

That code of conduct is undermined by this mindless policy change that allows males the ability to not only openly dress as females, but also use private areas like showers, restrooms, and barracks reserved for females. Pretending that such a move won’t have a negative impact on the morale or readiness of our military forces is an exercise in willful ignorance.

But that is the state of our brave new culture – one where we embrace political correctness over military needs, and one where the security of those living under the American flag becomes secondary to the mindless ovations and social media approbation of those hoisting the rainbow one.

Pauline Hanson is a big enough person, a stable person, a trueblue Australia patriot person to be able to take the essential Tony Abbott return to the PMship in her sturdy., sensible stride....or she is not the person I have always thought she is. Pauline will be fine with Tony Abbott again at the helm...after all she truly deeply sincerely cares about Australia.

Harry, V good article and quite true

Labour, the Nats picked up seats. The libs lost seats, a feat only turnbull could cause. Sydney-siders may love him, however turnbull is on the nose Australia wide.

A Harley biker is riding by the zoo in Sydney when he sees a little girl leaning into the lion's cage. Suddenly, the lion grabs her by the collar of her jacket and tries to pull her inside to slaughter her, under the eyes of her screaming parents.
The biker jumps off his Harley, runs to the cage and hits the lion square on the nose with a powerful punch.
Whimpering from the pain the lion jumps back letting go of the girl, and the biker brings her to her terrified parents, who thank him endlessly. A reporter had watched the whole event.
The reporter said to the Harley rider, 'Sir, this was the most gallant and brave thing I've seen a man do in my whole life.'
The Harley rider replies, 'Why, it was nothing, really, the lion was behind bars. I just saw this little kid in danger and acted as I felt right.'
The reporter says, 'Well, I'll make sure this won't go unnoticed. I'm a journalist, you know, and tomorrow’s paper will have this story on the front page. So, tell me, what do you do for a living and what political affiliations do you have?'
The biker replies, 'I'm an Australian Soldier and I vote conservative.'
The journalist leaves.
The following morning the biker buys the paper out of curiosity to see if it indeed brings news of his actions, and reads, on the front page:

And that pretty much sums up the media's approach to the news these days.

"A CONTROVERSIAL ABC program about the health effects of Wi-Fi has led to a presenter being suspended, after it breached impartiality standards.
ABC presenter Dr Maryanne Demasi from the popular science program Catalyst has been suspended until September this year, after a review of the episode titled “Wi-Fried” was conducted by the ABC’s independent Audience and Consumer Affairs (A&CA) Unit" HAW HAW Failing "Impartiality standards" How about 730, Q&A, Drum etc etc etc talk about picking the soft targets to look good...

The "turd's" biggest problem is that he has trashed the brand and he can never get it back again . He's finished .

Get well soon IE.

Hi IE. Where have you been? ;-)))

"Opposition Leader Bill Shorten believes Malcolm Turnbull is considering calling a snap election to sort out his problems." ... dream on, Shitten.

Loosey made him do it. Loosey is to blame. ;-)))

GetUp exposed: George Soros' tentacles reach into Australia
The left-wingl activist group, GetUp claims it is “an independent grass-roots community advocacy organisation.”
GetUp’s founders David Madden and Jeremey Heimans are heavily involved in a number of similar US and global left-wing activist groups, each of which is tied to the shadowy billionaire, George Soros.
GetUp was inspired by, and modelled on similar US groups, such as and Win Back Respect. Madden and Heniman were co-founders of Win Back Respect. According to public records published on, when they were drawing expenses from the group in 2004, the major donor that year, with a contribution of $150,000 was George Soros.
Madden and Heimans are also involved with another Soros-financed left-wing activist group, Public records reveal that between January 2003 and December 2004, Soros contributed $2,500,999 to
Madden and Heimans are co-founders of the global activist group,, an organization that the Canadian Minister John Baird in 2008 labelled as “shadowy foreign organization tied to billionaire activist George Soros.”
Madden and Heimans can hardly claim that GetUp is non-partisan when its original board members included Australian Workers Union secretary Bill Shorten, Australian Fabian Society secretary Evan Thornley, green activist Cate Faehrmann, and left-wing trade union researcher and “community organiser” Amanda Tattersall. The largest donor to GetUp in 2010 with a donation of $1.1 million is the CFMEU.
GetUp’s benefactor, George Soros is clearly partisan. Of the $3.5 million in recent campaign donations made by Soros, 99.84% was donated to Democrat candidates and organisations.
The $3.5 million is just the amount declared as political donations. Soros has poured untold millions into numerous political, activist and media front groups. In 1973 in an attempt to defeat George Bush at the forthcoming election, Soros gathered a group of left-wing activists and Democrats at his mansion and helped found, with a donation of $10 million, America Coming Together (ACT), a grassroots activist group designed to co-ordinate all his other front groups.
When the US brought in laws limiting political donations, Soros used his considerable clout to circumvent the laws by inspiring new legislation allowing the so-called “527” organisations to raise funds without breaching the laws. Hence the myriad of Soros activist groups can raise funds without limitation on the basis that they are not political groups. So while they may not donate to political parties they can run very effective advertising campaigns and stunts that clearly target one party and favour another.
It is clear that GetUp follows the Soros model in Australia. It is set up as a “non-partisan” activist group to harvest donations that are exempt from Australia’s political donations laws. The corporate entity, Getup Limited does not appear on the Australian Electoral Commission’s list of “associated entities”, even though it claims on its website that is legally obliged to disclose donations over $11,200 to the AEC.
The group utilises the funds together with the energy of its well-meaning activist members to target the conservative parties with stunts and advertising campaigns whilst pushing left-wing agendas such as global warming scaemongering, the carbon tax, same- sex marriage and the release of illegal refugees from detention.

Did you hear the RACE RELATIONS WALLY ON 2 GB AT AROUND 2.00pm? Scheeming ,half Asian, chip on shoulder, sitting down urinator. KEY WORDS , EQUALITY , FAIR, RACISM, MULTI CULTURALISM. Full of time tested bile ,name calling and rash generalisations. Chip on shoulder immigrant thinking (like v .trioli )social engineering silly little cock head.

Remind yourselves who it was that put Pauline Hansen in jail. And just in case you've all conveniently forgotten, it was your hero Tony Abbott who did the dirty work. Abbott is no less grubby or dishonest than the rest.

Will the Turnbull Coalition "Team" continue to support their leader ?

A leader who constantly lends himself to corrupt morals (Safe Schools, marriage equality) and questionable intentions (NWO and Islamisation of Australia) ...

ALA Senate vote going up - now 18,729, which is over a third of Xenophon the Pretender's count.

What a weak bunch.! Reading the Austn earlier (on line), a pair of journos wrote about Pauline and One Nation, with all the time tested left wing bile ,and blaming her for everything including the fire of London. So I submitted a couple of pars.I respectfully suggested that they get a little editorial control over left scribblers, that 10% of the country voted for O.N, andthey are very concerned about Lib and Labor border and sovereignity policy, and the ever increasing threat ,here, of ISLAMIC FACISM. I made mention of the other broad sheet that lost editorial control , lost massivly of sales and got big job cuts. My bit joined several of same thoughts .The panel said 400 plus interest.BUT WITHIN THE NEXT 35 MINUTES THE ARTICLE AND READER COMMENT WERE ALL PULLED.SHUT DOWN.HEY RUPERT,

Former prime minister John Howard has warned Coalition MPs not to "start slitting their throats" ... hey Johnny, there's only one throat they want to slit!

Barnaby Joyce should lead the LNP, instead of a Lib. He's shown that he can get into a real dog fight - and win - as well as supporting his colleagues.

And look at the Nats deputy, Fiona Nash. I've seen it reported that she was away from home 54 days during the campaign, and there were only about 56 days in it. MT just seemed to do one short presser a day.
