TRUMP FIGHTS A HEAD WIND
... and suffers unfriendly fire from the rear
Four-time Walkley Award winning political commentator and Churchill Fellow, has returned to the fray over concern that the integrity of news dissemination is continually being threatened by a partisan media.
Forecasts that he would self-destruct have proven wrong and Donald Trump has broken the mould for nominee elections forever. No-one has ever seen anything like this before. In between promising to deport 11 million illegal entrants and having an unpresidential punch up with the Pope his successful loony shenanigans have forced his opponents to adopt similar unfamiliar tactics.
If Cruz loses Texas and Rubio looses Florida it’s all over... it only needs Hillary to sweep South Carolina and Donald will face her in November and incredibly he’s the only one likely to lose to her.
The Republican machine detests him and it, like everyone else, expected him to fail miserably, so now the game has changed in an attempt to do what the Democrats couldn’t do... kill off the Don.
Mitt Romney, the Republican who threw in the towel and gave the world eight years of the disastrous Obama has been trotted out to demand Trump’s tax returns. Obviously the back room Republican machinery has been flat out finding a way to destroy the Don before he gains the nomination. It’s clear they would rather see the Clintons back in the White House than Trump.
So too would the Saudis and the former Government of Julia Gillard, after all both have contributed up to $25 million each to the Clinton Foundation.
Hard to believe that the GOP wants Trump gone? Well, where are the endorsements from the Republican heavyweights? There is not one. Only another maverick in Chris Christie has offered his support in return for some auspicious posting, the rest are busy undermining the Don.
Over the past 50 years conservatives have slowly yet surely moved further Left to capture the populist socialist ground. Australia is no exception. The ADF, Security Agencies along with quangos and the education and welfare systems, the ABC and most of the Press and Television, even Government Ministries have been quietly infiltrated over time by the Left, and no-one noticed.
In years past Turnbull could never have garnered support to unseat Abbott from within his own Cabinet. And Turnbull is a foggy thinking third rater who only now is considering a Double Dissolution ... too late Malcolm, you needed a DD election before the May budget not after it.
Conservatives are a lazy lot, they let things drift, they ignore the signals and changing body languages until one day they lose power and they wander off into the commercial world confused as to what happened.
Abbott hung around waiting for job offers but there were none. Yet sacked Labor luminaries have always been found cushy well-paid spots somewhere. Socialism has become respectable, but only to those who promote it or to those who have never experienced it.
Independent Bernie Sanders, a crusty old cold war communist, has found astonishing popularity with the blacks and anyone under 25 who believes in free stuff. The world is changing, we have come a full circle.
Those who realise what has happened to conservatism have reached out to Donald Trump but it may be too late. The Republican Party itself has set out to destroy him, because they know if the Don wins the Presidency the GOP is finished as a political force.
The attractiveness of socialism/communism in the early 1900s will again be fashionable.
Everything old is new again.
