RESHUFFLE PRESENTS MORE THAN ONE OPENING FOR A BRIGHT YOUNG MAN
Four-time Walkley Award winning political commentator and Churchill Fellow, has returned to the fray over concern that the integrity of news dissemination is continually being threatened by a partisan media.
Either of two cavernous openings in Turnbull’s Ministry await Tony Abbott and either would be a perfect fit. Tony Abbott would bring more experience to the highly unionised flop that is the Health portfolio than any other Conservative in the country. In Defence he would have the rare testicular fortitude necessary to rein in the out of control Russell Hill PC Chiefs.
Pauline Hanson’s attempts to lure Abbott into her boudoir shows only a deep misunderstanding of the man. Abbott was born a Liberal and will die a Liberal, he is not for turning, despite Hanson displaying an attractive leg and Turnbull displaying an unattractive petulance.
Turnbull’s elevation of Marise Payne to her current position of “dual” Minister for Defence with Christopher Pyne was an idiotic move and doomed from the start. Turnbull thinks in cosmetic terms only, and Marise Payne, although a welcome female, was clearly so far out of her depth in Defence that Turnbull had to assist her by appointing South Australia’s $60 billion dollar submarine man, Pyne, as a dual Minister, but wait for it, neither actually knows who the senior or predominant Minister is... incredible!
Only Turnbull could have got a Cabinet into such a blind bind. Affirmative female, or male, action should never be spent at the expense of the competency of either.
So which way will Turnbull jump? He should undoubtedly bring Abbott back into the fold, if only to increase his own longevity, and he should undoubtedly get rid of the insane Payne/Pyne Defence duo. But don't hold your breath.
Anna Pluckachook gone to Gowings
Pauline Hanson’s One Nation Party is more than conceivably likely to wield the balance of power, if not government, after the upcoming Queensland election and God only knows how much she is needed to drain the billabong of the putrid QLD Family Court, CSA, and the entire Queensland judicial and Parliamentary system that has bumped along on bedrock for too many years without a Senate to oversee, or review, any bloody thing.
Recycled to Heath?
But Hanson advising Turnbull on the Abbott dilemma will only ensure Abbott continues to rot away on the back bench. Malcolm’s conniption would never allow him to appear to have taken Pauline’s advice.
The Libs are in dire straits with an unthinkable Shorten breathing down their necks and they are searching for talent beyond the plastic Turnbull... but that’s the way Turnbull wants it. He is content to be top turd on a pile of bed wetters’ poo.
So when this reshuffle is complete it will take an astute political commentator to recognise any difference.
