IS TERRORISM OUTRATING SPORT?
Four-time Walkley Award winning political commentator and Churchill Fellow, has returned to the fray over concern that the integrity of news dissemination is continually being threatened by a partisan media.
Don’t know about you but I was always up at all hours watching international sport where our athletes invariably excelled. Golf, tennis, yachting, rowing, soccer, rugby, gridiron, skiing, boxing and the list goes on while the results go down.
Lately I am still up at all hours, but now I find myself watching regular Islamic terrorist attacks that are usually carried out following an Imam's hate speech during Friday prayers at a local mosque, so tonight or tomorrow morning is a good time to report on Islamic atrocities. but it's better not to mention "Islamic" until we have multiple recordings of someone screaming "Allahu Akbar".
My question is, why are all (or practically all) our competitors now failing… even at tennis? Well, it could be in the answer Nick Kyrgios and Bernard Tomic gave when asked why they appeared to throw games
"Special Ks" they call themselves... more like "wanking wannabes"
“Basically I have plenty of money" said Tomic, "so why should I bust my gut when I don’t care if I win or not", or it was “too hot” for Kyrgios? Most tennis competitors are even losing interest in the hallowed Davis Cup where national pride is at stake. Without national pride to fight for you might as well buy a bloody bronze medal at the nearest pawnbroker.
A rare international Aussie win and you’re as likely to see an Aboriginal flag or a rainbow flag as you are to see our Australian one.
If we want multiple flags, go compete for the UN with 193 or that Euro mob with 28!
Have we lost our national pride and therefore our urge to compete?
So where is another Golden Girl, a Lithgow flash, a Great White Shark, a Rockhampton Rocket, Flippers Fraser, a Thorpedo, a Don, King Wally or Wally Lindrum… oh, hang on there is a scruffy looking bloke who isn’t too bad at darts poking around somewhere. But who could possibly watch darts?
If you look at our leadership options in Turnbull and Shorten you begin to see the hopelessness of it all. What is there to strive for in this nation that we can be proud of or look forward to?
Has mediocrity, stupidity and PC killed our sporting dominance?
Sexual divisions, identity and gender politics, anti-Australian racial commissioners (above), ideological RETs that are putting energy costs out of reach, praising foreigners like Obama who denigrate our Barrier Reef, statue defacements, global warming scammers, anti-Australian universities and their Marxist instructors, white Aborigines protesting that we don’t really own our land, supported by an ABC that only caters for minorities, failing media icons, and gays demanding we replicate their abnormalities… Blimey, WTF is there left to compete for?
I do see a correlation, but for those who believe I have a twisted little mind, can you please give me another reason why arguably the greatest sporting nation in the world, per capita, has become arguably the worst, along with Islamic Asian nations?
I mean,I understand that Islam must be a severe sporting disincentive, otherwise Indonesia’s 360 million would be swamping us all. But the Indonesians are coming here to train because the best Indonesia had achieved was only one gold, one silver and three bronze in shuttlecock and light weightlifting, of all events.
Maybe Burma (Myanmar) could better assist Indonesia than Australia could, because it has never won a medal of any colour, ever.
Oh well, we might gain some respect in the upcoming Commonwealth Games where we don't have to compete against the best.
The only interest Australia has in the current US Tennis Open is the sex of Serena Williams’ new baby... Sheeeeeez!
