I TRIED MY BEST, BUT WHERE WERE YOU MR OBAMA?
Four-time Walkley Award winning political commentator and Churchill Fellow, has returned to the fray over concern that the integrity of news dissemination is continually being threatened by a partisan media.
The Islamic State last night planted their black flag above the strategically critical Kurdish town of Kobane on the Syrian border with Turkey. Turkish forces made no attempt to assist as they stood by and watched a new pathway being opened up for foreign fighters to freely move from Turkey into Syria and Iraq.
Kurdish fighter Ceylan Ozalp, 19, (pictured) was reported to be surrounded by ISIS fighters in her town of Kobane. After she ran out of ammunition Ceylan said “goodbye” over the radio and fired her last bullet into her own head rather than be captured by the Islamic State.
Turkey secretly released 200 captive terrorists, including Western converts to Islam, back into the arms of the Islamic State in return for its diplomatic hostages held in Syria. Resident White House idiot, US Vice President Biden, on Saturday actually apologised to Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan for suggesting the Turkish leader “made a mistake” by allowing foreign fighters to flood into Syria.
Erdogan has been noticeably backward in assisting the US led forces to stem the relentless Islamic State onslaught and has made only notional attempts to seal its borders, allowing Kurdish and Peshmerga fighters to be overrun.
Many border towns are Kurdish held and Turkey is pleased to be rid of the Kurds at any cost while Australia attempts to assist them to repel the IS.
What sort of crazy war is this?
Meanwhile, the folly of coalition air strikes unsupported by ground troops is now becoming evident as targets disappear into thin air and IS fighters are about to enter Iraq’s surrounded capital of Baghdad.
Mortar shells are landing in suburbs close to foreign embassies and Obama is now faced with another possible Benghazi debacle as he still refuses to face reality in favour of fund-raising for his mid-term elections.
It will take three weeks to deploy US troops to defend ten years of coalition work in Iraq and for every day Obama equivocates he further imperils the lives of the few “support” troops stationed there, including our boys, and emboldens even more Western Islamic youths to join IS.
Whether Obama realises it or not, this is now an unwinnable guerrilla war only because of his failure to stem the initial invasion. Air strikes are now useless as IS fighters will simply meld into communities taking over households, killing the men and using what’s left of family units at their discretion.
Relying on “training” Iraqi forces to repel the Islamic State is utter madness, they will chuck their uniforms and try to join them.
“Containment” and “degradation” has never won any war. “Destruction” and “annihilation” wins wars and unless you’re determined to destroy and annihilate, just don’t go there.
And we should never have gone there.
