I DON’T REMEMBER YOU!
Four-time Walkley Award winning political commentator and Churchill Fellow, has returned to the fray over concern that the integrity of news dissemination is continually being threatened by a partisan media.
Victorians’ short memories have enabled Labor's Dan Andrews to start a hot favourite in today’s poll. In a late rush Denis Napthine has closed the gap but it may not help him because at least one quarter of the ballots have already been lodged as pre-poll and postal votes.
And they have been lodged in record numbers. The fact remains, Labor’s Daniel Andrews is a most unlikely favourite to win the Premiership and that’s a forehead-slapping prospect.
How Labor’s Victorian disasters can be so quickly forgotten is a mystery... or is it? Melbourne has always been a hotbed of hardcore Labor and union activism. It houses Trades Hall, the ACTU and the worst of the CFMEU with mob bosses Gatto and Setka.
A history of AWU criminality, aided by Slater & Gordon’s Gillard and Wilson and Maurice Blackburn’s Shorten and Roxon has been no disincentive for the Labor-loving Vics.
In fact Victoria is the only State in Australia to have returned yet another graduate of Slater & Gordon, the Greens’ Adam Bandt, to the Federal Reps and while Oz was still reeling from a raging Rudd/Gillard/Rudd catastrophe.
The prospect of a Daniel Andrews government is so unthinkably damaging to Victoria that even the most rabidly Left tabloid rag in Australia, the Melbourne Age, has warned voters not to go there.
Is it an Abbott backlash that has made Andrews favourite? It has certainly helped, most Victorians detest the New South Welshman, but you have to wonder what drugs the Vics are on to even think of supporting a Party with such a recent history of outrageous incompetence and criminality.
But the election will not be the whitewash that the pundits suggest and it will come down to the wavering sand belt seats but it’s still embarrassing for me that Labor, at least this time round, is starting such an undeserved favourite in my old home town.
Oh well, I guess quite a few idiots still support Collingwood to win a Premiership, so why not chuck in Andrews too.
