HAVE BASTARDS LIKE THIS DESTROYED OUR TENNIS MAJOR?
Four-time Walkley Award winning political commentator and Churchill Fellow, has returned to the fray over concern that the integrity of news dissemination is continually being threatened by a partisan media.
Journeying from Northern Hemisphere winters and Christmas breaks, is the wrong time of year for most players anyway, but questions are being asked whether we actually deserve a tennis major like we once did, now that European countries like Russia, France, Spain and Germany are way more deserving.
The very unspecial Ks
We have become an international tennis joke with players like the detestable Kyrgios and the embarrassing Tomic. They get fined more than many players win, and they don't care.
Three surfaces are needed for a Grand Slam: Clay (French) Hardcourt (US) and Grass (Wimbledon) so WTF are we doubling up with our hardcourt surface for? If it’s tradition alone then we ran out of that decades ago.
Our only player of any physical ability at the moment is Sam Stosur but she seems to go frustratingly missing mentally with a string of first round exits, despite having won a US Open major six years ago.
Eons apart in style, attitude and ability
The men and women who made us a great tennis nation are confined to novelty events or mired in an oddball religion out west somewhere.
Tennis was always noted for an overabundance of homosexual players and this may have played on the great Margaret Court’s sensitivities, and she was lambasted recently for denouncing gays.
Where are the Rosewalls, Lavers, Sedgemans, Stolles, Hoads, Roaches, Frasers, Goolagongs and Courts? And where is perhaps the greatest of all, Roy Emerson? Gone from the gentleman’s game forever, replaced by mug lairs who have no national pride, no personal pride and therefore no ability to compete.
Emerson beats Stolle in one of many Wimbledon all-Aussie finals
Many didn’t play for money, they were amateurs who crafted the skills necessary over many years before deserving professional status where they could accept prizemoney.
Perhaps Bernard Tomic’s disgraceful performance at his last Press conference sums up our Aussie youth who are ingrained with a Left attitude to life: “I feel holding a trophy or doing well doesn’t satisfy me any more.
“It’s not there. I couldn’t care less if I make a fourth-round US Open or I lose first round.
“But I think I don’t respect it (the game) enough, yes, because I — you can say — I’m super talented but not delivering.”
Is it the Left’s insistence that there be no winners? Is that what it is? Everyone must have a prize now? No-one must be seen as a winner at the expense of the loser? Why then bother winning?
Are we being drowned in our own mediocrity in an outrageous education system?
Hmmm. The spoilt brat Tomic must now leave the game to continue driving fast cars and screwing even faster girls.… after all that’s his only motivation…
He never did have pride in Australia and he will return only when the money runs out.
