GO FIND SOME OTHER COUNTRY TO REPRESENT, KYRGIOS
Four-time Walkley Award winning political commentator and Churchill Fellow, has returned to the fray over concern that the integrity of news dissemination is continually being threatened by a partisan media.
How do you compare golfing class acts like Jason Day and Adam Scott with tennis tossers like Nick Kyrgios and Bernard Tomic? All four represent Australia.
How can you compare Lionel Rose with Anthony Mundine? Shouldn’t there be a character test before someone can represent Australia? Or must we sit here and feel ashamed to be Australian?
So did Kokkinakis really bang Wawrinka’s girlfriend, Donna Vekic?
Actually, who gives a stuff, she was after all his irregular doubles partner. Stan Wawrinka had split with his wife a year ago and had been dating Vekic for some months.
When Kyrgios found himself down a set to the higher ranked Wawrinka last week the classy Kyrgios came out with this audible statement to upset his opponent: “Kokkinakis banged your girlfriend. Sorry to tell you that mate.”
This sort of trash talk might be part of football and I was regularly told my wife and daughters were on an Aboriginal gang-bang list... and I gave as good as I got. But it’s not part of tennis and not part of golf because any idiot knows microphones are planted everywhere and anyway, tennis is not normally a contact sport.
Kyrgios is an immature grub and has no business representing you, me or Australia. Adam Goodes is also a grub and they both get justifiably booed for good reason but it’s only Goodes who claims the boos are racially motivated.
While they have family support instead of admonishment, the sport will suffer disgrace.
