Wilderness Worship - Back to Neander

There are dreamers with computers in ivory towers who champion a “zero emissions world” where man’s activities release zero carbon dioxide to the atmosphere.

Here are the Zero Emissions dreams of the Australian Labor Party:

Other zealots want to de-populate settled land and destroy existing infrastructure. Here is one of their spokesmen:

We must make this an insecure and inhospitable place for capitalists and their projects. We must reclaim the roads and plowed land, halt dam constructions, tear down existing dams, free shackled rivers and return to wilderness millions of acres of previously settled land.

These enemies of human industry should be denied the benefits of human industry.

No concrete, steel or plastic can be made without producing CO2. Therefore “zero emitters” must be denied reticulated water at the turn of a metal tap from concrete dams via iron-cement pipes and metal/PVC plumbing. They should dig a well.

No concrete highways, bitumen roads, gravel quarries or modern vehicles can be built or maintained without metals, diesel trucks, dozers, graders, concrete and bitumen. Therefore zero emitters should be denied the use of modern roads and vehicles. They should take a wooden cart on stone-paved roads or ride ponies.

They should also be denied the protection and comforts of houses that use concrete, iron, steel, copper and glass, together with their refrigerators, stoves, TV’s, computers, air-conditioners and appliances. They should live in log cabins or caves, with fur coats.

Wind and solar generators, together with required roads, transmission lines, batteries and backup, can’t be produced without the mining of metals and release of CO2. Nor can reliable power stations using coal, nuclear or gas. Thus the zero emissions crowd should be denied the benefits of 24/7 electricity at the flick of a switch, and all the appliances and tools dependent on electricity. They should use “green” appliances – tallow lamps, bees-wax candles, wood fires, clay pots, digging sticks, grinding stones and smoke signals.

Those who reject irrigation dams and ploughed land must also reject the abundant foods provided by such systems – meat and vegies, bread and butter, bacon and eggs, fruit and nuts, coffee and croissants. They should hunt and gather in national parks and wilderness areas.

The Neanderthals lived in a cold wilderness with zero emissions. If green zealots insist we all return to Neander, most humans will share their fate.

I’M OFFENDED JULIA, WHY DIDN’T YOU ASK ME? I do really good portraits

Sydney's sister city of San Fran... or is it brother city?

greens are not idiots.......they are dangerous idiots

Well tying up land was the best Tony Abbott could come with
You say it will be tied for 100 years
The voters supported this and a green army and continued polluting.
It could be looked on as a legacy memorial to Tones.

Moves for greater transparency welcome: MCA

THE mining industry has come out in favour of Australia becoming a partner country in the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI).

Brendan Pearson

EITI is the global standard for natural resource revenue management. Its central objective is to reconcile payments to government made by resource companies with those received by government. There are currently 48 countries participating in the EITI worldwide.

The Minerals Council of Australia CEO Brendan Pearson said: “Many Australian mining companies already participate in EITI-compliant reporting processes around the world.

“Today’s announcement follows an extensive EITI pilot program conducted in Australia between 2011 and 2014. The Minerals Council of Australia was an active participant in the pilot’s Multi-Stakeholder Group which confirmed a high degree of accuracy and integrity in company reporting and governance systems.”

The announcement underlines the strong commitment of the minerals sector in Australia to revenue transparency, according to Pearson.

Since 2011, the MCA has conducted an annual tax survey in conjunction with Deloitte Access Economics.

Transparency International consistently ranks BHP Billiton and Rio Tinto near the top of its worldwide ranking of companies in its Transparency in Corporate Reporting Analysis.

In 2013, the then Assistant Treasurer in the Gillard Government, David Bradbury (now Head of Tax Policy at the OECD), acknowledged that Australia’s largest mining companies disclose ‘a vast array of information about the tax they pay and their tax affairs’.

More recently, the MCA has been a constructive participant in the development of the voluntary tax transparency code released by the Federal government in last week’s Budget.

"The most dramatic change has been seen in the plummeting cost of emissions-free wind energy, which has declined by two-thirds in the last six years thanks to the availability of cheaper, more efficient turbines. An annual analysis by the investment firm Lazard determined that wind energy is now the lowest-cost energy source, even before federal green-energy tax incentives are factored in"

Very interesting BK.

The Greens were exempted from donating to the Black Saturday bushfire appeal because they supplied the fuel.

Viv the Mussos will have us first a long time before that happens and Bob Brown may be taken to a Tall building in Taswegia for a one way trip?

Is there anywhere else on the planet other than Kiribati that is showing signs of rising sea levels? Or is Kiribati sinking, as I live by the coast and notice nothing other than normal tide movements. As for the coral bleaching, doesn't it always? All this to me say's, any solution you come up with to prevent nature taking it's course is folly and equates to nothing more than pissin in the wind and shoven shit up hill! (apologies to the Gays for the comparison).

Steam powered? Choo choo!

Barrier Reef tourism operators petition the govt to save the reef.

I await with interest the first reliable electric semi trailer truck, passenger aeroplane, concrete mixing truck, ship, spaceship, train, bus,

Me caveman, where is my wench?

Global warming pushing high altitude clouds towards poles: NASA study

Uncle Viv can not find much to complain about main stream environmental policy he goes to the extreme edge, finds the 1 in a billion loon to make fun of. No scientist has said that we must stop that list Viv has given And he errs on a number of points.
Newlight Makes Plastic Out of Thin Air (Not Oil).....
And coming soon -Cement from CO2: A Concrete Cure for Global Warming?....

Of course Viv would rather we assume the ostrich pose with head in sand rather to work sensibly through the problem

If these lefty numpties want zero CO2 emissions better stop exhaling, wankers ...

There are a few groups who reject the modern world and live self sufficiently. Some Amazon tribes, the Andaman Islanders in the reserve and a few communities of Old Believers in Russia deep in the Siberian forest.

Viv has put up a straw man and is attacking it with all the ferocity he can muster.
I don't think anyone has a position as extreme as Viv is describing here.
Amusing reading.
