It’s not the old style argy bargy Parliament we are used to and Tony Abbott should know by now he either needs to adjust or call a stop to it.
Political correctness has reached new heights in a very unusual ruling party of homosexuals, gay mothers and a single prime minister with a predilection for dodgy, married boyfriends. And it's they who are actually claiming offence at the most innocent of comments?
Labor will claw $8.3 billion from companies in compulsory early tax payments. Yet another hit to employment. The baby bonus reduction makes sense because the illegal immigrants pouring unchecked across our open borders will take care of our required population growth.
A Fairfax poll of 1400 indicates the gender war is working for Ms Gillard but the Fairfax headline of “PM PUTS ABBOTT TO SHAME”, accompanied by a Women’s Weekly style pic of a demure Julia says more about Fairfax than its poll results.
...and the spotlight is not being shone by a misogynist, or a sexist, not even a Right wing nutjob. It’s being beamed by one of her own Left. An ex-ABC journo by the name of Maxine McKew.
That the Canberra election is so close is a pointer to the eventual extent of Gillard’s electoral demise. An 8% swing to the Liberals (albeit on a proportional representation basis) in a traditionally Labor voting city brings cheer to the hearts of the losing Libs. Last reports indicate 7 seats each to both Labor and Liberal, 2 to the greens and 1 undecided. Even if the third seat goes to the Libs you can rely on the devastated Greens to join with Labor to form Government, with a majority of 9 in a 17 seat Assembly. No-one gives a stuff what Canberra elections throw up except that this one is an ominous result.
Julia Gillard has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing regarding the AWU/Wilson scandal. She (pronoun) also claims she knew nothing about the workings of the so-called slush fund.
It appears Craig Thomson is in for some Xmas joy as Victorian and NSW police are now confident they have the evidence to lay criminal charges against him before the end of the year.
While State constituents are running a mile from Gillard socialism, Canberra continues to embrace its comfortable Left existence. And what a comfy little town of 350,000 Canberra is. It is cosseted and insulated from the harsh realities of life the rest of Australia endures.
Craig Thomson has copped a well-earned serve from Health Services Union members today. They have claimed there is "black and white" evidence he spent their funds on prostitutes and they are angry and invited him to sue them.
News Ltd’s self proclaimed on-line expert, CEO Kim Williams, says 40,000 subscribers are now paying for his news. That figure is bound to be inflated and still far below viability. The pace of change is well ahead of old bastards like Williams who actually believes he is “up with it”. Far better to employ teenagers to cope with the new world of digital IT stuff. Intros tempting you to hand over your credit card to read more of the story are a joke. Why pay $12 a month to read news you can read anywhere? If you really want to read The Australian stories without paying simply cut and paste the headline into Google and “voila”, there it is! But Williams would already know this if he was “up with it”, wouldn’t he.
“Only $24 million... quite a modest amount”, so sayeth the man who keeps his used chewing gum in his coat pocket, Bob Carr.
"If you get to senior positions, you have to be able to kill your opponents. It is not pretty, it's not pleasant, but if those at the top can't kill, then those at the bottom certainly cannot. High politics demands very low political skills, too."
Who said this? A filthy foreiger with a shady past named John McTernan said this.
